New Energy Storage to Boost Energy Transformation in the Steel Industry Special Forum Held at CATL


On April 23, a special forum on new energy storage to help the energy transformation of the steel industry was held at the Nanjing International Expo Conference Center. The forum was guided by the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, hosted by the Metallurgical Industry Planning Institute and the Jiangsu Energy Storage Industry Association, and undertaken by Jiangsu Kunlun Interconnect Technology Co., Ltd. Nearly 200 people, including industry experts and corporate representatives, attended the forum.

As one of the seven theme events of the CESC2024, the Second China International Energy Storage Conference and Smart Energy Storage Technology and Application Exhibition, this event focuses on the application of new energy storage in the steel industry to promote the industry's energy transformation.

Promoting energy conservation and green and low-carbon development in the steel industry is an important way to reduce carbon emissions in the industrial sector and achieve the "dual carbon" goal. The "Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak in the Industrial Sector" clearly proposes the implementation path for energy conservation and carbon reduction in steel enterprises, such as optimizing energy consumption structure, and proposes to strengthen the use of new energy, enhance the coordinated interaction of sources, grids, loads and storage, and accelerate the large-scale application of new energy storage.

Zhang Xing, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that in the next step, the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology will take new energy storage technology as an important starting point, continue to increase support for green and low-carbon technology research and development and demonstration projects in the steel industry, and encourage enterprises to carry out technical innovation and application practices of deep integration of energy storage and steel production through policy guidance, financial support, and public service platform construction. Strengthen cooperation with industry, academia, and research to build an open and shared innovation ecosystem, jointly overcome key technical bottlenecks, and form a batch of energy storage technology products and solutions with independent intellectual property rights and international competitiveness.
